Here's some shots from the most recent lookbook shoot w/ Taizon Taylor for the upcoming (might be released now!!). But before you peep the ice cold camera shots here's a quick information spill on Pangea and why we chose this as the foundation for this drop.
WHAT IS PANGEA?
255 million years ago one supercontinent existed, this is known as the Pangea Era, the period in time when all Earth's continent were connected as one single landmass. This was a much rather important moment in the universe where many key changes to nature and geography occurred. The first mammal-like animals, winged insects, beetles, and other countless species appear. The Appalachian Mountains formed in this period but the biggest story is an effect from Pangea's last days known as the "Great Dying," space impacts or volcanic eruption (who really knows?) caused 95% of marine species and 80% of life on land to die off leading to the present separation of the continents.
WHY WE MADE PANGEA-INSPIRED GEAR?
Our creative director has a special nact for history that you're likely aware of if your an original CREAM PLAYER from our earlier years as a brand. Everyone does a globe or map design at some point we felt the need to do something different but not too much. Haven't seen anyone use the Pangea globe as their inspiration so we said why not go for it. While thinking of how money rules the world and its habitants a picture of Pangea popped into our minds. Let's express how the world is being ruled by "paper with zero-backed value" and bring light to an era when this way of life didn't exist. Why? Besides being one of earth's original people we felt a connection to this era when earth was in a key time of expansion and evolution.
We wanted to combine two contrasting time periods to give a hint to how the world is controlled by cash & that its cool to relax from the rat race some days to enjoy the soothing bliss of life that was much easier to absorb when no cash or humans existed.
